The taste of the Mediterranean, the industrial feeling of Berlin and the cutest pastel colored interior as if ‘beach Barbie’ herself did the styling. That basically sums up restaurant The Pool which opened their doors earlier this year. The Pool is located in the popular Amsterdam East area, in the former building of legendary club Trouw. A refreshing colorful restaurant with a big sunny terrace in this industrial area.
The kitchen is a bold mix of French, Spanish, Italian combined with the spices of North Africa and the middle East. The more you taste the better, so advised is to share the food. However if you are in a less adventures vibe and feel like having a burger or pizza this is also an option. Personal favorite dishes: Fried Artichoke Hearts with tomato relish, Tiger Prawns, and the Grapple salad (Fennel, apple, grapefruit, pomegranate and greek Lebneh). The other dish you can’t miss, but might scare you in the beginning is the Pulpo. Even if you are not so much into fish this is worth trying. It’s grilled in delicious spices, with an even more spicy pimenton oil.
Need a refreshment to cool down on all these tropical spices? Try their signature wine cooler. A bright blue cocktail. It’s a more fresh variation of sangria. Think of a mix of sangria and caiprinha. Another cocktail worth trying is the Swan Dive: Tio Pepe tequilla, lemon juice, angostura bitters.
