Yarn Unit a dutch brand with international allure
Yarn Unit, It all started 6 years ago. Some of you may already be familiar with the brand? For those who aren’t familiar with Yarn Unit, let us introduce you! After reading this post you will thank us and probably hate us a little bit, because you will have made an investment in your wardrobe and you will have developed a new addiction.
In 2001 Jan Everard Wiggelinkhuizen started his own agency, called Wig Anthology. The company carries mostly Scandinavian brands, because of Jan Everard’s love for Scandinavian style. To his surprise, he discovered that these brands didn’t carry any warm knits in their collections and he found a gap in the market. In 2005 he decided to fill this gap and he introduced a new Dutch brand with international allure, called Yarn Unit.
All Yarn Unit collections are designed with the best Italian yarns. The brand has a minimalistic and sophisticated look and feel, staying true to the Scandinavian style. Because of the different patterns, details and colours, Yarn Unit is a unique, timeless and sustainable brand. The high quality of the yarn and the design ensure that the clothes last longer than just one season. Because the designs come in natural and clean colours, it is easy to style a Yarn Unit garment with different outfits and looks. We are telling you, the purchase of a Yarn Unit design is a great investment in your wardrobe!
Yarn Unit started out designing only women’s collections but in january 2011 they finally launched their first men’s collection. The Spring 2012 Yarn Unit man collection is designed by the Frenchman Stéphan Barbier. For the past 16 years Stéphan has worked as a fashion designer for luxury ready-to-wear labels such as Rochas and Emanuel Ungaro. Stéphane studied art and fashion in Paris and he draws inspiration from painting, video art, film and the people around him, which is reflected in his collections. Stéphane and Jan Everard both share a passion for art, design and photography. Yarn Unit has used photography as the most important means of communicating the atmosphere, context, and emotion of its clothes.
