Wool = Cool
This week it’s Wool Week. Wool Week is an event, part of the Campaign for Wool which was founded by Prins Charles. Wool has been an important fabric for the fashion industry for decades. It’s a rich fabric, and something designers love to work with. Still it got a little old fashioned image sometimes. For that reason the Wool Week was introduced. To show the benefits of the fabric wool, and to show it’s more than just your old grannies sweater. Till the third of November it’s Wool Week in Amsterdam. During this week two exhibitions will be held. One in the museum Cromhouthuizen on Herengracht 368: 35 x Wool. 35 Dutch fashion designers, stylists and product designers showed their skills and vision on the product wool. Designers like Lucas Ossendrijver (Lanvin), JANTAMINIAU, G-star RAW, Sjaak Hullekes take part in this exhibition. A must see for the weekend! Another exhibition is a special photography exhibition in ‘de Oude Kerk’, in the red light district. Ten of the best fashion photographers of the Netherlands showed their vision on Wool. Paul Berends, Philip Riches and Edland Man are some of the photographers. Both exhibitions are till Sunday the 3rd of November and will have special activities during Museumnacht as well. So go visit these exhibitions when your in Amsterdam this week, and see how cool wool could be.
