Viktor & Rolf, SS2012
We have showed our love for Dutch designers during Paris fashion week by wearing clothes from Jan Boelo, Marloes Blaas and Dennis Diem to the shows. However, we were extremely proud to be Dutch attending the show of Viktor & Rolf during our third day in Paris. The show was located in a tent in the gardens of the Louvre. As soon as we arrived the fountain near the entrance of the gardens, the streetstyle photographers came to us to take pictures. Probably because our neon satchels catched their eyes. Slowly we took our way to the entrance where all fashionista’s where pushing to get into the show. It felt a little bit like a cattle transport, but instead of cows, people dressed in the latest fall collections, Chanel bags, and stilleto’s standing on your designer shoes were pushing. Once we passed the entrance, the temprature went up from 30 degrees celcius to 45 degrees celcius. It was like excercise bikram yoga during the show. However, the Hunters couldn’t care less attending the Viktor & Rolf fashion was like a dream came true. When the lights switched off, and the show started we didn’t think about the heat for a second. It was so spectacular.
The show opened with a flickering light, and a silhouette of a gigantic pink and black dress. The dress was worn by Les Brigitte, a French pop star duo (we like duo’s) inspired by all the famous Brigitte’s from the past (Bardot) who performed during the show. Once they started singing, the skirt went open, and the first model came out. One by one the models came out off the dress. The SS2012 collection had many stiff fabrics, oversized lace prints, and the giant ribbon stitches. In the dresses, the tops and even the accessoires this giant ribbon detail came to the surface. Color-wise black and soft colors were combined with very bright blue, red and silver. The show finished, traditionally with a brides-dress, which obviously included the gigantic stitching as well. Overall the models looked like sexy baby dolls with the big, fake, pink eyelashes. The signature piece of Viktor & Rolf, the extreme shoulders, also got back on one of the models. Many IT-models were in the show like: Daphne Groeneveld, Karlie Kloss, Miranda Kerr and Natascha Poly. Frontrow were two of our favourite fashionista’s: Anne della Russo and Rachel Zoe. In a nutshell, a girly, strong and fun show, collection and experience we will never forget.
