Van Rijn – Amsterdam
Dinner in the center of Amsterdam. Might sound easy to find a good spot right? However for some reason it’s kind of difficult to find a restaurant which is from good quality, nice atmosphere, affordable price and a varied kitchen. Especially in the Rembrandplein area, which is the area where most clubs and (gay)bars are located. This week Hunters’ found the perfect restaurant in the middle of Rembrandtplein: Van Rijn.
New York City vibes, that’s what you get at Kitchen & Bar Van Rijn. A relatively big restaurant with a high sealing. If the bar was not big enough, they have a an extra-long bar table in front of the bar. Perfect spot to mingle with the other guests and to have a drink after the cinema or before you go clubbing. The prices of the cocktails are very affordable, for €9,50 you can zip a refreshing Cosmopolitan or Caipirinha. Interior is inspired by the beauty and masterpieces of Rembrandt van Rijn. During the weekends they have live music and a DJ.
Van Rijn has an international kitchen. Some dishes have a more Asian twist, like the Tuna with kumbu seaweed and & avocado cream and the steak with soy & a mouse of miso. The Filet Americain on toast and scallops have more of a French twist. And the carpaccio and risotto link more to the Italian kitchen. So whatever mood you are in, you can find something to your taste at Van Rijn. Quality of the food is great and the prices are reasonable. Starters go from €9,0o to €15,00 and main courses from €19,00 to €29,00, depending if you go for a risotto or for the lobster.
Van Rijn is a great spot to start or finish your evening. Good atmosphere, central locations and delicious food and snacks. Speaking of snacks, I have to give my compliments to the hospitality as well. The staff is well informed, polite but also flirty the same time. And we all like a little flirt when we go out don’t we?
