Tsumori Chisato, SS2012
The fifth and last show we attented in Paris was the show of Tsumori Chisato. A name we didn’t now that well, before visiting the show. A name we never will forget after the show. Tsumori Chisato is a Japanese fashion designer. She attented Tokyo’s Bunka Fashion College and began working with Issey Miyake in 1997. In 1990 she started her own line. In 2003 she decited to move her work to Paris and after the United States. The aesthetc focuses on prints are a trademark for Tsumori and her designs always have a ”healthy dose of manga/bohemian cuteness.
What the Hunters like about Paris Fashion week is that the shows are located throughout the city, at various locations. So each designer can choose a location that really fits the collection and the designer can set the atmosphere from the show. The show of Tsumori was located in the bank of Tokyo, the ideal place for this catwalk show. At the Tsumori show the models came from a lower floor and reached the catwalk by a very classic staircase. The audience was placed around the stairs, where the models passed by. The Hunters had one of the best seats. They saw the models walking up the staircase and the catwalk. If you take a close look at the pictures, you see the Hunters sitting in the background (bright pink and nude shirt). Cuteness is the perfect word to summerize the collection. Chisato was inspired by islands, Japan as an island in the Soutch Pacific and tropical cultures like Costa Rica, Cuba and Miami. The inspiration was evident in the collection. The prints like palmtrees, flowers, mermaids, tropical animals and applications on the garments were obvious linked to this theme. The garments were very summery, a lot of dresses, shorts, blouses, tops all made of lightweight, shiny materials. The color palette of the collection consisted of bright orange, green, yellow, blue colors combined with brown the color which reminds us to a tree trunk of a palm tree. The accessoires and the shoes were amazing as well. The Hunters really loved the show, it was like they stepped into a summery fairy tale. Overall the models looked very lolita-like. Have a look at the pictures, we know for sure it will cheer you up.
