The Ides – Wythe Hotel – New York City, Brooklyn
In an earlier post I briefly explained the beauty of Brooklyn and Williamsburg. Well my journey in Williamsburg didn’t stop at the Barber Shop. Actually I entered the Barber shop by accident, because I was on my way to enjoy the most beautiful view of the skyline of New York City at Wythe Hotel.
On the rooftop of Wythe Hotel is the bar ‘The Ides’. This is the place-to-be during the sunset. From this bar you have the best view over the skyline of Manhattan. I went there on a Friday afternoon, right before sunset. There was literally a queue before the elevator. And once upstairs I immediately understood why. From downtown, to midtown to uptown, you see the complete skyline. The sun goes down, the sky changes in all the colors of the rainbow. And one by one you see the lights turn on in all the skyscrapers on the other side of the river. A DJ is playing some tunes. And the bar staff is very friendly and experienced. They can perfectly advise you in what drinks you should have. I myself am a big gin lover, so they made three different gin cocktails for me.
When sitting at the bar, enjoying your cocktail, here the people chit-chat and laugh, watch the sun go down behind the beautiful Island called Manhattan, it feels like you are on top of the world, in a beautiful dream called ‘New York City’.
