The Glen Boutique hotel – Cape Town
Looking for a hotel in Cape Town? Don’t look any further. The Glen Boutique hotel is where you have to be. The hotel has a 4 star rating and is located in Sea Point. A very central location and lively area with many restaurants, walking distance from the beaches. City centre, Waterfront, Camps Bay, Kloof street all a 10 minute taxi ride away.
The Glen Boutique Hotel is a gay-friendly hotel, however there are not just muscle marries and twinks walking besides the pool. It’s a mix of gay and straight, young and old. What best described the guests: super friendly lifelovers. Since it’s a boutique hotel you quickly get to know the guests and the staff. Infinity pool, beautiful designed rooms and a spa, what’s not to like. Each room is designed differently. One thing the rooms have in common are the neutral colours, mixed with blue and African details. Breakfast is very complete. If you want a healthy breakfast or you need a hangover meal with egg’s and bacon they are serving it. No egg’s waiting on the buffet but all freshly made. I can’t eat wheat for example so they organized gluten-free bread for me. Lunch, dinner and snacks are served either via room service, on your lounge bed at the pool or on the terrace & restaurant besides the pool.
One of the other facilities the hotel offers is the spa. For a relaxing moment in the steam-room, jacuzzi or dry sauna after the sunset. Or you could book a massage. When you decide to take a massage I advise to take the elephants walk. A back massage done with warm oil from a candle and kalebassen. 60 minutes of relaxation and stretching, with an African twist thanks to the Kalebassen and the music.
What stands out the most at The Glen is the amazing hospitality. I never felt so welcome in a hotel. From the concierge to the cleaning ladies and from the gardener to the chef everybody is more than happy to help you and make sure you have a great time. Everybody was genuinely interested in how we experienced Cape Town and always there to help us with advise. The concierges can help you with bookings for excursions or restaurants and share their good advise on what are the best things to do during your visit. They even send you an e-mail some weeks in advance if you need assistant with bookings prior to your stay. I had the best time at the Glen and can’t wait to be back.
Besides the hotel The Glen has some apartment rooms in Bantry Bay for a little more affordable price. So if you are in Cape Town for a longer period might be a nice spot to start your stay at the apartment and finish at the hotel.
