SS14 trend report: layering
It’s always difficult to estimate what to wear during the Spring season. At least if I speak for myself I often wear either too warm and arrive all sweaty at work. Or I dress too cold and regret I didn’t put on that extra sweater. The solution to this is wearing layers, you could always take one layer of if it’s too warm. And if you dressed too warm you just toss your jacket around your waist to create some volume in your look. Good thing is, this is all accepted according to the SS14 runways. One designer known for the layered looks is Haider Ackermann. A mix of rich fabrics and prints, in jackets, blazers and scarf all combined in one look. This Spring Haider showed his first menswear collection in which this recognizable style was visible.
Many other designers showed surprising layered looks. Most experimental was Givenchy with the printed legging, shorts, sweaters, coats, shirts all worn the same time and on top of eachother, resulting in a sporty and futuristic look. Prada did the opposite and went for more subtle. A navy overall with a short sleaved shirt in a blocking colour underneath, minimalistic, young and refreshing look. Very body fitted. Fendi went for oversized layers. Baggy leather pants, oversized shirt, and extra long raincoat. A very volumueues and masculine look.
