Shaun Ross – Style Icon
A guy who can’t be missing on the style icon list is Shaun Ross. Shaun is a dancer, actor but most of all a model. The first well-known male albino model. Vogue, i-D magazine, GQ, Givenchy and Alexander McQueen, they all worked with him. Not just the magazines and fashion houses captured this guy for the camera. Recently Shaun Ross appeared in the videoclip ‘Tropico’ of Lana del Rey and in the clip ‘Pretty Hurts’ from Beyonce.
Shaun used to be discriminated a lot when he was younger because of his unique looks. However after training for many years on the Alvin Ailey school, which is specialized in modern dance, he got discovered on age 16 on Youtube and by model scouts. His unique albino looks which gave him problems during his youth, had a positive effect after all. This probably gave him the courage as well to dress differently as well. As unique as Shaun’s looks are, so is his style. Androgynous and grunge Rick Owens – like, is a style he often goes for: from knee-length shirts and cardigans, see-through, to leather pants or skirts. A very current look which he pulls of so well.
Besides the black & white grunge looks, Shaun is not afraid to go for bold prints and colours either. Preferably mixing both of them, and combined with similar bold sneakers from Bernhard Willhelm for Camper. A more urban look, connecting well with his dancing background. But honestly, Shaun could pull of everything.
During New York Fashion Week this February Shaun showed more of is punk side with the bold printed biker jacket.
