Palladium by Richard Chai
The Asian designers are taking over the New York fashion scene. Take for example Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Thakoon and not to mention Richard Chai. These are some of the big names in fashion now. Everybody is watching them to see what they come up with next. Alexander Wang went to Balenciaga, Prabal Gurung (who often dresses Michelle Obama) designed for Target, Jason Wu (also popular brand of Michelle Obama) is now Art Director for Hugo Boss and Thakoon designed for GAP. Yes, the Gaysians are on top of their games.
And so is Richard Chai. Chai used to design for Marc by Marc Jacobs before launching is own line. After launching the Marc by Marc Jacobs line, he became creative director at TSE. When Oprah Winfrey and Patricia Field (stylist of Sex and the city) became fan of his collection for TSE he decided to take the step and start his own line. First a women’s line, inspired by the straight cuts of menswear. Minimalistic, colorful and wearable are recognizable for his collection. 2008 was a big year, he launched his menswear line and released a capsule collection for Target and in 2010 he was announced by CFDA as men’s designer of the year.
This season Richard Chai collaborated with Palladium for the second time. Which resulted in a military high-top boot, with leather detailing. According to Chai this season the boot is more stylish with the different textures of leather all in one color to make the boot look more futuristic.
