It is the middle of July and summer in Amsterdam. Temperatures are maximum 16 degrees and it is raining throughout the whole day. Nevertheless, it is fashion week, and that is what keeps us warm. Last night the Hunters went to the official opening night of fashion week, the Openingssoiree, and attended the shows of Spijkers en Spijker and Tony Cohen. The designers duo Truus and Riet Spijkers did the kick-off of the week with their, second line: SIS (for the once not familiar with Spijker en Spijkers, the designers are twins, so that explains the name(s)). The year 1920 inspired the sisters for this collection. Graphics, stripes, dots and zigzag patterns. Inspired by summer sports and Olympics. From people who are going to the French riviera to Olympic competition swimmers. The SS2012 show was very feminine, colourful and elegant. They made use of the colourblocking trend, and some of the designs were a mixture of the simplicity of Stella McCartney and the sexiness of Gucci. Hunter’s favourites were the 20’s inspired bathing-suits.

After a quick dinner with some FFF (fellow fashion friends), the models were lined up for the second show: Tony Cohen. Tony Cohen is known for his party looks. The ideal model to open his show, in non other than: Kim Feenstra? If you say party girl, you think of Kim. Every single look that was shown on the runway is perfect for a hot summer party at the beach or some roof terrace in the city. Some key-words to describe the show are: A-symetric, gypsy, cocktail dress, soft colours, silk and sequined. To summerize the night it was very Dutch: Rainy, cosy, colourful and down-to-earth.
