Opa’s (grandpa’s in Dutch) is a biological restaurant, located in one of Hunters’ favourite streets of Rotterdam: de Witte de Withstraat. Opa’s opened the doors in 1993 when the street was still very rural, and allmost scary to visit. However in 1995 the congregation of Rotterdam changed this and made it the most cultural street of the city. Many galleries, musea and boutique shops are now located on the Witte de Withstraat. Opa’s has been her before this big renovation so is part of the Witte de With’s culture. Opa’s is a down-to-earth café where you could just walk in for a drink, lunch, bites or an extensive dinner. I (Hunter Niels) visited Opa’s a week ago and had a great time. Especially since I am not familiar with the city, it was good to start my night on the town in this spot, because of the mixed crowd. The waitresses were very helpfull and advised us on where to go later that night. The food at Opa’s is biological, and so is the wine. I started with a mixed plate of all the starters, in this way I could taste all the starters of Opa’s. Accompanied with a bottle of bio-prosecco a great start of the dinner. As a main course I shared the starter of duck, and the over-roasted chicken with my friend. Especially the home made apple sauce, that came along with the chicken was delicious! With the main course I had a glass of Pinot Blanc. Usually I am not a big fan of this wine, however this one was spectacular. Yes, I can definetly recommend to go to this old man to you all!
