nhow Hotel – Rotterdam

Nhow Hotel Rotterdam

Nhow Hotel Rotterdam opened it’s doors the beginning of 2014. The building, called the Rotterdam, of the new urban lifestyle hotel is designed by noted architect Rem Koolhaas. This makes it the first and only hotel in the world designed by the renowned architect.  The impressive building is positioned right next to the Erasmus bridge. Funny fact, the building has the largest amount of square meters of the whole of Europe. The hotel is not the complete building, only the left part on the picture is part of the hotel, and till the 23rd floor. Which doesn’t make the view less impressive.

Nhow Rotterdam has 4 different rooms. Starting with the urban room as the standard room. However we truly advise you to take one of the other rooms. One step above the urban room is the sunrise room, which looks over the south part of Rotterdam. However even better are the sunset rooms, which looks over the city centre of Rotterdam including the iconic Erasmus bridge. The sunset rooms and suites both come with a free mini-bar. All the rooms have floor to ceiling windows, which gives you a beautiful look over the city. Rooms are modern and industrial, but not too cold thanks to the green and blue interior, and the gold and red details.

As soon as you enter the hotel you notice that architecture and design play a very significant role. Renowned artist, celebrated designers and upcoming local talent is all visible next to eachother throughout the hotel. On every floor of the 23 stores high building you see different art in the hall-ways.  From bright coloured art-pop, to stunning black and white portraits. The breakfast is served in the restaurant on the 7th floor. An organic breakfast, in the spacious and light atmosphere of the 7th floor. Perfect way to start the day.

What I really liked about the hotel were the fun details. The bright red logo came back in subtle ways. On the towels more prominent, but also in the color of the door tags. The door tags didn’t had the usual texts as ‘Don’t Disturb’, but more capturing phrases. The mini bar was full of surprises as well. Highlight of the mini-bar was the sack of gin & tonic. The hotel doesn’t only stands out on the skyline, but especially because of these fun gestures it makes the hotel stand out and a fun and inspiring place to stay.
