Men’s trend: Ultra shorts
Last nights show of Dutch men designer Sjaak Hullekes inspired us to write about one of the trends for men ‘the Ultra shorts’. A trend Hunter Niels is big fan of. Sjaak Hullekes got inspired by the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s of Asia, and especially the Japanese culture. He combines the prewar Japanese style with the European business men. Earth tones like olive, beige and orange combined with bright blue gave a fresh, modern and dandy look with an Asian militaristic twist. Most of the pants were extremely tight fitted. He combined these with safari jackets, transparent tops and tailored blazers. The pants varied from full length, to knee length and my (Hunter Niels) favorites: The Ultra shorts. The beige version for the safari look, the chocolate brown version for the more classic look and the navy print shorts for the modern and playful look. You do need to have some skinny or muscled legs for these shorts. I hope I do, and otherwise extra reason to go to the gym. The best way to style the ultra shorts are with a plane (oversized) shirt or tailored jacket. Since the shorts are kind of sexy it is better to style them classic and dandy-like.
