Men’s trend: Corduroys
‘ Fashion is uncomfortable’ according to Anna Della Russo. Well we mostly agree on this. If comfort would be fashionable we would all be wearing pyjama’s all day, and wouldn’t wear make-up. However this winter there is one trend in men’s fashion which is comfortable: the corduroys.
For decades this pants has been on-and-off trend. Thanks to the popularity of volume and textures this autumn the corduroys is back on trend. However to make sure you don’t look like your ‘history teacher’ , make sure you choose a pair with a modern fit, cut and style. A slimmer cut is important and the way you style essential. To make sure you don’t look like your grandpa, the complete look needs to be streamlined. For work you combine the ‘Cords’ with a denim shirt and sturdy boots. Want to dress up a bit more? Wear a clean white shirt on top, buttons up, broque shoes and a tie or bow-tie to finish up. Is it too cold to just wear a shirt? Put a blazer in a blocking color over the shirt. Or for a more casual look a classic chunky cable-knit over your shirt.
The real fashion boys go for a colored pair of corduroys, and especially the more faded colors. A.P.C., Dsquared2, Paul Smith, Drykorn and Lee have perfect corduroys in their winter collections. Burberry even goes for head-to-toe corduroy looks with corduroy caps. For ultra skinny corduroys you need to be at Topman, Reiss and Cheap Monday.
