Mama Africa, Zurich
I (Hunter Niels) found a piece of Africa in Switserland. Curious how? Well, two weeks ago, I visited Zurich. It was for a stopover, before going skiing. As I had told you earlier, I bumped into a very nice cocktail bar: Niettrumbar. However that wasn’t the only spot I discovered. As soon as I walked outside the hotel, and crossed the road, I saw this restaurant called: ‘Mama Africa’. It was like ment to be, since I was in Africa just a couple of days before. The look of the restaurant was very cozy with all the African details but modern at the same time. As you might understand, it was ment to be and I had to have dinner in this restaurant. The restaurant is decorated with African art, and many different tones of brown. A very warm and cozy environment. A perfect match with the menu, based on typical African ingredients. Typical grilled meats as Springbock, Austrich and Gnu are served at Mama Africa. For the no-meat-eaters they have also, dishes, but truth needs to be said, the real African kitchen is based on meat. One of my favourite things in the restaurant was the wine. When you order a glass of wine you get these cute little cans, just enough for one glass. To finish the dinner, you actually need to try some Amarula (African version of Baileys), and otherwise a frozen martini at the bar. To get rid off all the extra kilo’s you gained during dinner I have a tip. Go play some pool on the other side of the street. Very fashionable in Zurich when criticizing the crowd.
