Little Lace Dress
If there is one fabric we saw frequently on the runways for this season (spring summer 2012) and next season (fall winter 2012/2013) it is lace. Lace in trousers, lace in hats, lace in pants, and fully lace dresses. Valentin Yudashkin, Alexander McQueen and Chloe showed the lace print in his classic form, but in a modern way. Valentin Yudashkin had the lace print revised in shiny black leather. Alexander McQueen made complete looks, including hats from lace. And Chloe had lace printed baggy trousers in the fall winter 2012 collection. All new ways of using the classic lace print. However what really catched our eye, was how Viktor & Rolf and Valentino used the lace print. They both used an oversized lace print. Like they had put the print under a magnifying glass. Viktor & Rolf uses the print in babydoll dresses in black, combined with popping pink, yellow and blue colours. Valentino had a more modern italian silhouette for the little lace dress. The light blue spring summer version of the Valentino dress was on the cover of the first Dutch Vogue issue. And the Hunters saw the red version for next season (fall winter 2012/2013) in the showroom of Valentino. Once we saw this dress in the showroom of Valentino during Paris Fashion Week, we were hooked. You need to know, the fashion house of Valentino in Paris is in an amazing building on Place Vendome, opposite the Ritz hotel. Being in this building is special and seeing the collection of Valentino in this beautiful surrounding makes magical. So after all these fashion impulses we have just one lesson for you: Get a little lace dress. PS the last couple of images are some we took in the showroom of Valentino. These aren’t all lace dresses as you see, but just to get the picture of how the collection and showroom of Valentino was like.
