La Oliva, Amsterdam
In Italy they have aperitivo with antipasti, in Spain this is called: Pinxtos and vino’s. Hunters know the perfect spot in Jordan, Amsterdam to get delicious pinxtos and refreshing wines: La Oliva. The restaurant is located on a corner, very warm interior, and typical Spanish details. Next to the bar is a window with cheeses and several sorts of Spanish hams and sausages. In the late afternoon the whole bar is covered with pinxtos. The kind staff is more than happy to guide you and explain what the pinxtos are. A pinxtos is like a tapas, but than on a piece of bread. La Oliva has a large variety of pinxtos, vegetarian, fish and meats. I (Hunter Niels) especially likes to come here on Sunday afternoon around 18.00. My favourite pinxtos are: Tournedos with duck liver, duck breast with peer sauce and fig with blue cheese. These pinxtos are delicious with a good glass of Rioja. Most of the times I take three pinxtos, and than I share two starters with my date. However if you are more into sweets they have delicious deserts. The chocolate mouse with warm strawberries is heavenly.
