Jil Sander Fall 2012
One of our favorite shows which we attended during Milan Fashion Week is without doubt Jil Sander. Upon seeing the schedule for Milan, we already marked the show of Jil Sander in our diary. This show was on our wish list. It was like a dream coming true, when we were waiting in the queue for the first show and we got a standing ticket to attend the second show. The last collection designed by Raf Simons. A very special show, a beautiful collection and a experience we never will forget. It’s not like every day you may be present a show where the designer is leaving the company after 7 years. When we were waiting in the queue, we’ve heard a deafening applause at the end of the first show. With a beading heart we entered the stage, which was white and filled with pastel flowers.
The collection was not only breathtakingly beautiful, the designs were recognizable Jil Sander regarding the color palette, the combination of colors and the cuts. Furthermore the collection was innovative with new silhouettes. The first models which entered the runway were dressed in oversized, loosely fitted pastel or camel coats lined with contrasting colors. Minimalistic but still very feminine and elegant. Dresses made of fine knits and light fabrics in shades of pale rose, hot pink and powder beige. Strapless dresses, made of silky materials in angelic soft colors. The powdery fifties style coats and fitted dresses were followed by deep red and black pantsuits and dresses.
The show, the collection, the designs, the models, the flowers, the music and the atmosphere is was so impressive. When the last model started to cry during the finals and Raf entered the runway there was an overwhelming applause. Hunter Linda had tears in her eyes and even got goosebumps again while writing this post. A legendary show, a legendary experience.
