Jaffa, Castricum (Bakkum)
Zandvoort, Scheveningen and Bloemendaal are the most likely places everybody goes to for the beach in Holland. However there is one beach that many people forget: Castricum (or Bakkum). The nice thing about the beach in Castricum is the mix of people. Young, hip and happening come here, but also the local grannies have their apple cake and coffee at this beach. I (Hunter Niels) am born in Castricum and grew up there. One beachclub where I worked is Jaffa. Altough it has been years ago, I still love to go to this place. The pavillion looks very fresh and modern, with colours of white and light blue. In front of the pavillion are several lounge places, which is perfect for a hot summer day to lay-down, on your towel, get your drinks and food served. The food is surprisingly good. Mostly in beach restaurants the food is very simple. However at Jaffa they really take good care of the food. From bites to a 5 course menu, everything is possible at Jaffa. Chef Ben (who was also on Dutch television with the show: Wie is de chef (who is the chef)) could also make you a special menu on request. Other than the perfect location for a get-a-way and a day at the beach, Jaffa is also available for exclusive parties. You could rent the place for weddings, birthday parties etc.
Same owners have another beach restaurant in Castricum: Deining. Deining is much bigger and more for families. Food is good but less exclusive than his little brother Jaffa.
