Hotel Modez, Arnhem, Netherlands
The best of Dutch fashion, combined with design in a boutique hotel in Arnhem. That’s the best way to describe ‘Hotel Modez’. Each room at ‘Hotel Modez’ is designed by a different Dutch fashion talent. The concept of the hotel was found by Studio Piet Paris. He’s is also responsible for the logo and the art direction of the hotel. Piet Paris asked several Dutch fashion designers to design a room for the hotel. From Spijkers & Spijkers to People of the Labyrinths, and from Antoine Peters to Bas Kosters. Every Dutch fashion designer got a free hand to do what they want to do with the room. A warm art deco graphic art is the decoration of the room of Spijkers & Spijkers. People of the Labyrinths made a wallpaper of their own living room. Bas Kosters doesn’t like to be alone so covered the walls with bright colored cartoons and huge colored dolls (which you are free to put next to you in bed). And Antoine Peters covered the room in QR codes which will lead you to porn.
Hunter Niels was staying in the Sjaak Hullekes room. After wearing his clothes so many times during the fashion weeks it was not a difficult choice to go for this room. Moreover Hunter Niels felt attracted to the modern design with the cosy details of the suitcases. The draws and night table are made of vintage suitcases. The room and walls are decorated with pieces of art from all around the world. Funny fact there is a small mirror high up the wall which is directed on the bed. A modern and masculine room with a sexy twist.
One thing you can’t miss when visiting the hotel is the elevator and the breakfast room. The elevator shows a history fashion photography (portraits, campaigns, editorials) throughout the history and the breakfast room an impressive (seems to be 3D) wallpaper. Hotel Modez is a perfect compilation of now-a-days Dutch fashion. A huge variety of rooms. From romantic to funky and from modern to cosy. The best boutique hotel of Arnhem and a must visit for the once interested in Dutch fashion.
