Green Carnation, London
Are you going to London? Looking for a hang out with delicious cocktails? Or a place to have an easy drink before you go (gay) clubbing in Soho? We know where you should go: Green Carnation.
It’s not a new place, it exists for years, however it isn’t less popular. Green Carnation is one of the most popular hang-outs in Soho, the theater and gay district of London. Spread over three floors, there is a floor for each mood: a lounge bar, dance floor and snug cellar (I know, sounds typical. Green Carnation honours Oscar Wilde’s way of life with this bar. Oscar Wilde, the world famous hedonism quotes are mentioned on the walls. Green Carnation is full of decadence and reminds you of a high-profile members’ club, without the strict membership policy. It’s not a typical gay bar, but is gay-friendly at least. Most of the crowd is in the early thirties, well dressed and eager to spend money on cocktails. I (Hunter Niels) often went her to start my night on the town.
The first floor is the most popular and especially during the weekends very crowded. Prices of the cocktails are reasonable, the bar looks chic but not too fancy, and there is a handsome crowd. The music is divers, but just like most gay bars in London mainly pop music oriented. However they often have live performances as well varyieng from drag queens to jazz music. Moreover it’s around the corner of all other gay bars and clubs. Perfect place to start your night of flirting and dancing.
Since I got these pictures of me, three years ago, back in my London days in Green Carnation, I thought I might just share them with you.
