Feminine, with a hint of masculinity
Dreaming about the purchase of Balenciaga? The Balenciaga motorcycle bag, the leather biker jacket or not to mention the galactic sweater? They are all on the wishlist. The hunters are big fans of the brand, but unfortunately it’s quite expensive. For those who share this Balenciaga love, we have great news. The house of Balenciaga launched a new fragrance. Florabotanica is a modern, edgy floral fragrance with a fresh greenness similar to Balenciaga Paris. Perfumers Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Herault geared the scent to a younger perfume wearer, imagining what an 18th-century garden of poisonous flowers would smell like? The predominant note is Turkish rose, with amped up green and spicy aspects. Florabotanica is a real fashion fragrance and aimed to a younger target group, great in our opinion because now it’s possible for the youngsters to come closer to that Balenciaga dream. We like the unexpected twist to this fragrance it’s warm and spicy, edgy and cool but at the same time super feminine and sophisticated. Next to the fragrance, the campaign featuring Kristen Stewart, shot by Steven Meisel and the packaging of the fragrance is great. The campaign sees Kristen Stewart standing casually in Ghesquière’s wild fairytale garden, next to an oversized bottle of Florabotanica. Kristen’s outfit is a blast from the past – she’s wearing Balenciaga’s instantly recognisable structured dresses from Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring/Summer 08 ‘floral collection’.
