Estée Lauder for Derek Lam
Estée Lauder was the official make-up sponsor at the Derek Lam Spring 2013 runway show at NY Fashion Week. Estée Lauder invited us backstage right before the Derek Lam show started. We were super excited, visiting backstage is always such an amazing experience. To feel the energy, to see the make-up products, the models, to get a glimpse of the collection and to watch how the models are getting ready for the show. We even had the opportunity to ask the makeup artists some questions and to interview Tom Pecheux, creative makeup director for Estée Lauder.
When we entered the backstage area, we were impressed by the amount of makeup and beauty products. Before the interview with Tom, there was time to take pictures from the products, the models, the face charts and to talk with the Estée Lauder makeup artists. It was very interesting and instructive to see the trends and to see the makeup artist’s at work. Tom Pecheux led a team of 15 makeup artists to create the stunning look on 30 models. Manicurist Jin Soon Choi and her team polished the nails with the new Estée Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in So Vain (which will be launched March 2013). Note that date in your calender! A nude shade with a hint of shimmer, the perfect neutral. The colour goes with any skin tone and any outfit.
A beautiful and natural look. Very subtle and discreet. We asked Tom how to create this natural flawless glow? They started applying Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Intensive Age Renewal Creme on skin before adding a light application of Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup. The combination of the cream and foundation create this glow.
For the eyes, Tom started with the Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Infusion before layering Color Stay-on Shadow in 4 different colours. A green and silver on top, and below the eye a little plum colour.
We were surprised about the products for the lips. We expected a lip product but to create this natural look, Tom layered Pure Color Stay-on Shadow Paint Extreme Emerald and Pure Color Stay-on Shadow Paint in cosmic a glimmery silver, on top of that for a pale, silvered-aqua look on the lips. An amazing effect, you should try this on your own lips.
The look was very feminine, elegant, delicate and romantic. A suited makeup to complement Derek Lam’s collection of approachable silhouettes, textures and irreverent color and combinations of materials.
