Cointreau, Dita and Linda
Dita von Teese, you all know here, the famous burlesque artist, model and style icon. This lady is since 4 years the global ambassador for the brand Cointreau. That cooperation is the link between Dita, cocktails and Hunter Linda. Dita was in Amsterdam because of Cointreau and I was one of the lucky ladies to meet her. It all happened Tuesday afternoon in the Amstel Hotel at four O’Clock. I was invited with a select group of bloggers for a meet and greet with Dita and a Cointreau cocktail workshop. When we entered the room we got the opportunity to take a picture together with Dita. We all were a bit nervous, because we had one change to take a good picture. After taking the pictures, there was time to ask Dita some questions. She told us that she’s working on a lot of projects at the moment. Like her own perfume, 2 lingerie lines (one luxury line and one more affordable line) which will be launched next season, her own make-up line and the beauty book. With this book she wants to break the rules in beauty. I discovered Dita loves vintage garments because of the huge stamps inside the clothes. It was like I knew it, since I was dressed in vintage Chanel. Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier are her favorites. She was wearing a beautiful dress from JPG, which is very special for her. According ‘cocktail’ dresses, she loves the dresses of Elie Saab especially for the red carpet. Dita lives in 2 different cities, Paris and L.A. She loves the balance of both cities. Paris because of the architecture, museums and clubs. L.A. because of the food, which is much healthier than in Paris, and the space. She loves vintage cars and to drive around. I asked Dita if she got the opportunity to dedicate a cocktail to someone, who would it be? She answered that she recently dedicated her favorite cocktail, the Margarita, to a special lady from Texas who developed the Margarita cocktail. Dita told us she loves the taste of violets and flowers in foods and drinks and added the yellow rose because of Texas to this cocktail. The last advice Dita gave us, was to follow your heart, you must believe in yourself and your own power. Make your own choices in life to be controversial.
After all the excitement because of Dita, it was time for cocktails. During the private workshop, the shaker told us about the brand Cointreau, the history of the brand and the cocktails, the ingredients and the most important part how to shake those cocktails. I was already familair with the Cointreaupolitan cocktail. Indeed it’s one of my favorite cocktails. The other 2, we shaked were also delicious. Later that night I tasted even more good cocktails during the Cointreau Cocktail Party, where I saw Dita for the second time. It was a lovely day and night. It was amazing to meet Dita, such a beautiful and inspiring lady. To learn how to make my favorite drink and to get home with a beautiful box of material to start shaking.
