Friday afternoon with Ilja Visser

Last weekend we visited the Ilja Visser, friday afternoon drink. Together with a large variety of Amsterdam incrowd and creatives we enjoyd some cocktails and a live performance. Whilst in the shop we were impressed, as always, by the beautiful collection of ‘Ready to fish’. Soon we will publish some more information about this collection.

Just woke up and still a bit tired. Thank god it is Sunday (I know you have the same thought). Still one day to recover before the week will start. But not for us, we need to work on the blog.
It was a successful day  (The word succes is a good word to describe my Q-Day, because my wallet was wel filled at the end of the afternoon). If I tell you I sold 3/4 for a new Marc Jacobs bag, you guys know enough! I spend Queensnight (woke up at 03.00 AM) and Q-day (left de Beethovenstraat at 15.00 PM) in de Beethovenstraat were I sold a part of our wardrobe  together with my girls Jamie, Birgit and her mother. I don’t like walking around the city during Queensday because it is too busy. Selling the part of my wardrobe, I don’t wear anymore is for me the best way of spending Q-Day. There is space in my closet  and I have money to buy new stuff.
After de Beethovenstraat I was so tired I was unable to do anything, I made a small walk by the Jordaan, to catch a glimp of the party people and fell asleep at 20.00 PM.

From Addy to Ronald

Last week (21 April), the Hunters went to Den Bosch (south of the Netherlands), to see the presentation of Addy van den Krommenacker. Krommenacker is the first Dutch designer who present his shows on 3D DVD’s. The Blu-ray 3D box is a coopartion between Addy van den Krommenacker, Chi hairproducts and Philips. In the flagship store of Krommenacker, together with Addy’s models, muses and friends, the Hunters watched the catwalkshow of Krommenacker at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week and the Alta Roma Fashion week.

After the lovely presentation the Hunters drove back to Amsterdam. Unfortunately they didn’t had dinner  yet (only 3 dishes nuts and chips) and were forced to have dinner at McDonalds.
Niels lost his McDrive virginity, since he never went there before.  He was so nervous the car engine hit off 4 times. We ended this evening in style (black dress, grey suit, Chanel bag, French fries and a large cola).

L’HOMO and Sam Friday

Wednesday was a busy day for the Hunters. Three invites were in the inbox. Unfortunately we had to skip the Filippa K party. First event was the launch of the new L’HOMO at Nevy, Amsterdam. The parties of LINDA. magazine are always very impressive. Last year I (Niels) did my internship at the magazine and was I part of the organization of the launch. This year

was much more relaxed, and I could enjoy my glass of bubbles and canapes, while staring at the models, chat with my ex-colleagues and gossip with my friends. This year 7 professional sporters are on the cover of L’HOMO. Dutch artist, Jim Bakkum, is in a spread of 15 pages in the magazine, and gave a performance.

Second event was the opening of the Sam Friday store in the Leidsestraat in Amsterdam. Both of the Hunters went to the event. Instead of the usual fashion show, Sam Friday showed a movie, combined with real life models on the stage of ….. . Alain Clark provided us with a very special performance. He sang without a microphone, which made it very intimate. The Hunters were litteraly under right in front of him.

Last weekend the Hunters and friends visited Antwerp (I think the people from Antwerp are still talking about us, we were really an attraction, did they never see 3 gays and 2 girls styled by the last trends together?).
We started the afternoon with a drink at Verso. The perfect start of our shopping tour. From Verso to the Nationale straat, were we visited Momu for the exhibition Unravel. The exhibition was really nice, from underwear till jackets all made out of knitwear. Of course, like real fashion insiders, we recognized the work of almost all designers. After Momu we had to visit one of our favorite stores: Renaissance. A beautiful store, and as always collections to die for! Niels bought 2 items. He couldn’t choose and if you are considering about what to buy don’t ask Linda for advice! The advice is always negative for your bank account.
The shopping tour continued after a drink at the Meir, to catch a delicious Belgian waffle and a quick (almost 1 hour) visit to Zara. Linda had to buy something, she couldn’t leave the city without a new purchase (does she have a problem?). We ended the day with Tapas and more drinks.

The Hunters arrived in style.

Last week Hunter Niels was in Rome and did his cultural thing, by visiting Lagerfelds photography exhibition. This weekend the Hunters will visit Anwerp. Of course the visit wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Fashion Museum Momu. The exhibition now seen is all about knitwear.

Unravel. The exhibition about knitwear in fashion. From March 16th until August 14th in MoMu Antwerpen.

The exhibition will highlight the most important decades in fashion knitwear and prove the popularity of knitwear on and off the catwalk.  Onravel introduces  a wide range of masterpieces in jersey, with the focus on designer clothing. An exquitsite selection of international, national designers and fashion houses (Ann Salens, Vivienne Westwoord, Sonia Rykiel, Misson), historical fashion pieces (Schiaperelli, Patou, Chanel)and more daring, avant-garde silhouettes of famous designers and newcomers in international fashion scene (Sandra Backlund, Maison Martin Margiela, Mark Fast).

For the next season FW11/12 the collections consists of a lot of knitwear. Knitwear in clothing like jackets, waistcoats, pants but also in bags and shoes. The true Norwegian print is much beyond. Knitwear is all but old fashion, knitwear is hot and trendy and still a important fabric for the fashion industry.

Hunters, kids of Amsterdam

The Hunters love a good party. Pictures below are at a party from Tommy Hilfiger Denim, in Paradiso.
