Claes Iversen, SS2012

Last night the show of Claes Iversen took place. Truth needs to be told, shows in Amsterdam are a totally different story than the shows in New York and Paris. But that doesn’t make it less fun and inspiring. The show was outside the city, so we took a shuttle to come at the venue. Once arrived upstairs near the runway, we enjoyed a gin tonic, and a chat with our friends. We were very curious about what the show would be like. We really like Claes, and his collections from the past. One of the pieces I (Hunter Niels) always think of when I think of Claes Iversen, is the trenchcoat from the post-it collection. Every season a form is the red ribbon through the collection. A couple of seasons ago this was the post it, than it was the butterfly and for Sprins/summer 2012 it is the cross. Cool thing was, the runway was in the form of a cross as well. Furthermore it was a very rough location, which made the models struggle a little bit. The show started with a short movie with Liz Snoijink, by Philipe Vogelenzang and Merce Wouthuyzen. Next the models got on the runway, or should we say crossroad? The collection varied from very clean, to more vibrant with sequent and popping colors. The cross was in every look showed. Sometimes this really stood out, and sometimes more subtile. Hunters’ favourite pieces were the trousers, they were very long, slim and the tops of the trousers had an alternate color than the rest of it. You have to see it, it is fantastic. It perfectly matches the minimalistic trend, as well as the colorblocking. Other piece we really liked was the white top, with the huge knot. And speaking of knots, the finale dress, the wedding dress, was the perfect closing look of the SS2012 collection of the adorable and talented Claes Iversen. (Photography by Team Peter Stigter)
