Check your Checks

One of the key trends for this autumn/winter are checks. Checks come in all forms and shapes. For men, as well as women. From coats to shirts, to dresses and suits. Fine checks, enlarged checks. So this season it’s time to play with your checks. The designers show you how to wear the checks in different ways. Because it doesn’t necessarily mean you will look preppy. Here are some of the favorite looks of the Hunters for women where you could see the diversity if this pattern.

Prada goes for a ‘ film noir’, meets 50ies office look. A super casual way of wearing a dress, where the way of styling the dress speaks to create the look. Combining the dress with a long sleeve shirt and smashing accessories. Celine shows a total different way of wearing checks. The pattern Phoebe Philo (creative director of Celine) is using reminds of laundry bags. The pattern is used in a head-to-toe print look, in boxy over-sized shapes. Which results in a modern, strong and warm look. Tommy Hilfiger goes for a head-to-toe check look as well. Tie, waist-coat, blazer, coat and shorts all in the same colour tones and and print. Tommy Hilfiger shows you the classic way of wearing checks: Preppy.

Let’s move on to the gents. Concerning menswear the check pattern comes in several types, colors and styles as well. Just like with the ladies we start with Prada. Prada shows a casual way of wearing checks. Classic pair of trousers, colored sweater, colored shirt and a different color check coat on top. Valentino shows a preppy business man. A clean well fitted three piece suit, white shirt and a black slim tie to finish up. The perfect office look. Hackett on the opposite goes for the dandy look. Combining the check jacket with velvet trousers and an extra large bow-tie.

So take your pick, how will you wear your checks this autumn?
