Backstage report, Ann Yee
During New York Fashion Week we got invited backstage at the Ann Yee presentation by Aveda. Ann Yee is a New York based ready to wear women’s wear fashion brand. Her collection is known for its refined nonchalance, and novelty knitwear with a ‘Downtown twist’. However the hair was nothing but nonchalant. Aveda and Allen Ruiz were responsible for the hair. To create this amazing, almost fro-like hair, they started with pins (which are usually used in the garden). Once all the hair was in the pins the hair got ironed and Aveda Air Control Hairspray was used. This was one of the only products used in the process. Next step was to get the hair out of the pins, which resulted in this beautiful zigzag pattern. Next step was to comb the hair to create the volume and to almost sculpture the hair up.
In addition, MAC Cosmetics was in charge of the make-up. To accompany the natural and nonchalant clothes, MAC went for a look without hard lines. Bronze and rust tones on the eyes, and plum on the lips. This natural and warm make-up, with the big hair and the strong structured, layered collection of Ann Yee made the models look like very independent and strong city girls.
