Backstage at Osklen SS14
During the shows of New York Fashion Week SS14 I had the pleasure to go backstage at Osklen. I earlier wrote about this Brazilian fashion brand. Click here to see this article. The SS14 collection of Osklen was very colorful, with modern cut silhouettes. Color-blocking patterns, total mono-color looks and transparant fabrics all with a modern cut. Very recognizable was the V cut of the clothes. This V cut was also visible in the hair of the models.
The Global Creative director of Aveda, Antoinette Beenders, found some time ,while preparing the models, to talk about her inspiration for the hair of the Osklen SS14 show. Antoinette doesn’t believe in micro-wave hair. With which she means that people come out of bed and are ready to go. Good hair takes time. Same for the models of the Osklen show, which took approximately 20 minutes per model to get ready.
To start with the hair needs to be conditioned well to have a natural healthy glow. Than the hair needs to get straightened and sleek to the back. The hair got styled to the back in a ponytail with a V detail. On the sides and top gel was used for the extra shiny and sleek finishing. Which resulted in a graphic and simple look. Simple but because of the conditioning and detailing rich, and not cheap out-of-bed hair.
