I would say, I have a special relationship with Cointreau. The Cointreaupolitan has been my favorite drink for a few years now. I interviewed Dita von Teese, I experienced many cocktail workshops, I partied in the hottest pop up bar in Paris, I visited Angers to discover and experience the essence of Cointreau during the Carré Cointreau. I know everything about the history of the brand, the distillation process, the marketing plan, the packaging and not to mention the cocktails with Cointreau. After last Monday I can add a new Cointreau experience to my list. I met designer Alexis Mabille. The French designer who adores bow ties. Alexis launched, with the help of his family his house in 2005. The designer started with ready to wear showing unisex clothes. Next to his initial trademark, the label in mirror in plexiglass Alexis wanted to add something extra and started designing a bow tie collection. Alexis loves bow ties and wore a lot of bow ties himself. Season after season it’s a challenge for Alexis to put the bow tie in an unexpected place in his designs.

The Hunters share his love for this cute piece of fabric and really like his designs. I (Hunter Linda) was excited to meet him. I was invited to join a private meeting with Alexis in Hotel Okura last Monday. While enjoying a Cointreau cocktail I got the opportunity to ask Alexis some questions about his collaboration with Cointreau. He told us, the idea of collaboration came to Cointreau because of Dita von Teese. Alexis and Dita are friends. Designing the bottle was a great experience. He wanted to turn the bottle into an accessory, to create a beautiful and feminine design. Which reflected into a amber silhouette surrounded by, how could it be otherwise: silver bow ties. I really like the bottle. The contract with the amber and silver and the fact the bottle is really Alexis. After the interview we took some pictures together and we had a little chat. We talked about Paris, his family, and the upcoming fashion week. Hope to see you there Alexis.
